Dor Ka Joy are two lovely traditional cottages offering a comfortable base to enjoy the pleasures of South Devon. The adjoining cottages are at the heart of the peaceful village of Malborough close to Salcombe in the South Hams, a quaint coastal village with a shop and traditional pubs in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Recently refurbished to a high standard both cottages have just what you need for a comfortable stay retaining original charm with some of the refinements of modern living, from wireless internet access to Plasma TV’s and Playstations - everything you need to enjoy the evening every bit as much as you are sure to have enjoyed your day’s exploration.

Each cottage can sleep 4 comfortably and can be booked separately or together.

If you are planning a bigger family get together you may also be interested in our sister accommodation; The Lodge Hotel is directly opposite and is a small, family run hotel with 20 rooms. Just down the road by the Village Church is The Old Vicarage, a stunning Victorian home again fully refurbished and a perfect venue for larger gatherings (accommodates up to 22).

THE COTTAGES

The previous owners of the cottages were three sisters, Doreen, Kathleen and Joyce, and they took equal billing when it came to naming the Cottages. We’re slightly less original and distinguish the Cottages as Dor Ka Joy 1 ... and Dor Ka Joy 2! They were both fully refurbished in 2007 to very high standards.

The lounge area in each cottage has an impressive 42" plasma screen with DVD player and playstation and all of the bedrooms have a TV and DVD player and a complementary DVD library is available at the hotel. Complementary broadband wireless internet access is also provided.

The cottages are fully equipped with everything you will need to ensure a relaxing stay. Linen and towels are provided as are cots, highchairs and stairgates. Additional facilities include a washer dryer. All utilities are included within the rent and we can also organise part or full catering and a maid service at an additional charge.

We welcome well behaved dogs but would ask that they are kept downstairs at all times.

THE VILLAGE

Malborough is dominated by All Saints Church, a landmark which can be seen for many miles around. The Church dates back to the 13th century and several local manors were mentioned in the Domesday book. The village is more tranquil than Salcombe and Kingsbridge, and has its own character with many thatched cottages and old houses.
There is a post office and garage with a small supermarket close by the Old Vicarage, together with two public houses and The Lodge Hotel so you dont have to travel far from your front door in the evenings to enjoy quality food in a very friendly atmosphere. Your dogs are even welcome in the Royal Oak pub.
