Accommodation details

Corffe stands in a sheltered, peaceful position on high ground commanding excellent views of the surrounding countryside west of the village of Tawstock. The village, which lies just 2 miles south of Barnstaple enjoys a picturesque setting in the wooded valley of the River Taw, and boasts a unique thatched school and an ancient parish church.

The impressive residence was owned by a titled family up until 1978. The outbuildings have since been converted to provide eleven holiday properties, sharing 3.5 acres of grounds and facilities. The Parish Church of Tawstock is of particular interest dating from 1066 and is recorded in the Domesday Book, also there are several important tombs dating from the 16th/17th Century.

THE COTTAGES

All cottages contain the following: night storage heating plus additional convector, radiant or fan heaters. Electric cooker.
Microwave oven. Fridge/freezer. Dishwasher. Filter coffee maker. Hand held food mixer.

Widescreen colour TV with video and DVD players, Freeview and Sky - Movies 1, Sports 1 and News Channel.

Duvets with linen and tea towels supplied, but please bring bath towels (can be supplied by arrangement). Hair dryer. No bed linen supplied for cots.

Car parking space.

All cottages have use of the award winning indoor heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and paddling pool.  The water temperature is around 84f, size of pool 30' x 20' and depth 1mtr - 2mtrs. During the hot weather sliding doors can be opened out onto a grassed terrace, perfect for sunbathing.

Penelope & Dove Cottages - Sleep 4 + 2 + cot.
First floor: living room with red brick fireplace and log effect electric fire, kitchen and dining area. Door leading to the south facing roof terrace overlooking the courtyard, with patio furniture for outdoor dining and sunbathing.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double with singe bed (can have bunk beds if required), and one with twin beds. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Corner Cottage - Sleeps 4 + cot.
Close the the other cottages and facilities but in a quiet corner.
Upstairs: living room with kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double and one twin bedded. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. Auto washing machine, high chair/stairgate. Small private courtyard with table and chairs and barbeque.

Camilla  - Sleeps 4 + cot.
Attractive first floor room with kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double and one bunk bedded. Cot in bunk bedroom if required. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Anna - Sleeps 4 + cot.
First floor: living room with beamed ceiling, kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double and one bunk bedded. Cot in bunk room if required. Bathroom and shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Benjamin - Sleeps 4 + cot.
First floor: living room with beamed ceiling, kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double and one bunk bedded. Cot in bunk room if required. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Agripina - Sleeps 4
First floor: living room with beamed ceiling, kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double and one bunk bedded. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc.

Jeremiah - Sleeps 4 + 2 no cot.
First floor: large living room with red brick fireplace and log effect electric fire, kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double with the option of additional single or bunk bed, and the other room has a bunk bed. Bathroom and shower attachment/wc.

Hillside - Sleeps 6 + 2 + cot.
The largest of the converted cottages.
First floor: open plan living room (45ft) with beamed ceiling, red brick fireplace (in which stands an electric fire) and kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: Bedroom 1 - double bed. Bedroom 2 - double plus 2 single beds. Bedroom 3 - bunk bed. Two large bathrooms with shower attachments/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Coach House - Sleeps 6 + 1 + cot.
First floor: large living room and kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: three bedrooms, one with a double bed, leading to a twin bedded room with en suite shower/wc. Bedroom with double bed and single bed. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

Jennifer - Sleeps 4 + cot.
First floor: spacious living room with kitchen/dining area.
Ground floor: two bedrooms, one double one bunk bedded, with the addition of a cot if required. Bathroom with shower attachment/wc. High chair and stairgate.

LOCAL AREA - the local area has much to offer visitors, with excellent walking, riding and fishing nearby. Visitors are also welcome to the Portmore Golf Club which has 18 holes, just 2 miles away from Corffe. Exmoor Park is 12 miles to the east, and the famous towns of South Molton, Bideford, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe are within easy reach. Across the river Torridge, in the village of Appledore, renowned for shipbuilding, is the North Devon Maritime Museum. Barnstaple offers shops, pubs, restaurants, theatre, cinema and a modern sports centre. The popular pannier market is held several times a week and here you will find locally produced fresh produce, crafts and antiques.

BEACHES - this part of Devon is blessed with safe sandy beaches,and visitors will find this golden coast exemplified in the glorious beaches at Woolacombe/Putsborough, Croyde, Saunton and Westward Ho! Uninterrupted by any land mass the rollers sweep in from the Atlantic, making the region a mecca for surfers. In contrast to this you also have the rugged coast of Exmoor and Hartland providing wonderful views along the coastal pathway.
